Notre Dame and Catacombs

Wednesday of vacation week with Rich and Libs.

It was after midnight when three soaking wet American tourists made it back to the apartment after spending the day in Disneyland Paris.  It's no surprise to anyone that we slept in the following day.

A trip to see the Notre Dame was in order.  But first up, lunch.  We took the metro to the Hotel de Ville stop on the M1 line.  Coming up to daylight from the depths of the underground, it's always disorienting trying to figure out which direction to start walking and today was no exception.  We went right and found the river.  We crossed over the Pont d'Arcole and arrived on the Isle de la Cite on the Rue d'Arcole.  We stopped at one of the first cafes we found, Le Parvis

Croque Monsieur for me with frites, Libs had a pasta dish, don't remember what Rich ate and for dessert we shared the Crepes Notre Dame because of course.

The Notre Dame was majestic as always and the long to get in was long as always but moves along quickly and is definitely worth the wait.  Every few minutes we heard a loud "Shhhhhh" or even an announcement to please be quiet. It is a church after all. But it's hard for hundreds of people walking through the place to be silent.   We took the Treasury tour, which I had not done before and saw the razzle dazzle there.

These are cameos of the most recent popes.

We took a quick snap of the medallion marking Zero Kilometre, the starting point where all road distances are calculated from Paris.
